FAQ

MATERIALS

Sterling Silver: Silver with a fineness of 925 parts per 1000 (92.5%) silver and 75 parts per thousand (7.5%) copper, which increases the silver's hardness.

Gold Filled Wire: Gold-filled wire is made by forming a tube of gold and filling the tube with a base metal, usually jeweler's brass. The gold is pressure and heat bonded to the inner core. The gold content is 5% or 1/20 of the total wire. Gold-filled wire for jewelry offers an affordable, durable choice at a much lower cost of solid gold. 14K gold filled wire is also called 14/20 gold filled wire. There is 100 times more gold in gold filled than in gold plate. A gold filled piece of jewelry with normal wear and care should last a lifetime. It is tarnish-resistant like solid 14 karat gold and is safe for most people with sensitive skin who can wear solid 14 karat gold jewelry.

Vermeil: Vermeil is an item made in Sterling Silver and then coated in a thick layer of gold ranging from 10 karat to 24 karat that is at least 2.5 microns thick. The layer or gold is much thicker than Gold plate.

CARE

I do my best to make each piece of jewelry strong but handmade pieces made from sterling and gold can be a little more delicate than jewelry made from base metals. Please also take care when cleaning your jewelry, do not use abrasive cleaners or cloths. Take particular care to use a delicate cleaner when cleaning pearls or soft stones.
