Sorento Larsonite (Petrified Wood) Pendant Necklace

This Sorento necklace features a lovely piece of Larsonsite set in a tall 18k Gold bezel on a hand stamped backplate of Sterling Silver. I am just in love with this stone! If you are not familiar with Larsonite, it is actually petrified trees from Northern Nevada that was formed when, millions of years ago, the area was a bog. With the aide of volcanic activity and tanic substances in the bog the trees were preserved. Over time minerals replaced the organic material forming the stones we have today. The lovely striations are different minerals in the stone. This particular piece is a beautiful example and cut so skillfully by Gary B. Wilson that it is so glossy it is hard to photograph!
